Subject to interest I will place regular posts here on Kyusho Jitsu/Dim Mak Introduction The martial arts are enjoyed by thousands of people around the world with people practising one of the various forms of martials arts for many reasons. However we all know that martial arts were created to enable one to survive violent confrontations. In my opion this combat side of martial arts is influenced by Kyusho jitsu/Dim Mak. These terms translate into striking acupuncture/pressure points. These systems are believed to have originated in ancient China where it is believed a man named Feng Yiyuan was credited with creating a system of attacking 36 of the most dangerous acupuncture points and then onto 108 points. According to this theory Yiyuans system eventually surfaced at the Southern Shaolin Temple and became intergrated into many different styles. In the past these systems were taught behind closed doors and only to the most advanced students. Kyusho Jitsu/Dim Mak should only be taught by expereienced /qualified Instructors.WHY?? Because even the simple "knockout" performed at many seminars can be dangerous. Many of the techniques that cause a knockout actually cause a sudden drop in blood pressure, which generally results in fainting. It is evident that attacking the dim mak points can adversely affect both the nervous and cardiovascular sytems. Next week I will post the next chapter-Science or Science Fictor ? | |
